August 30 Quick Update
over 8 years ago – Wed, Aug 31, 2016 at 12:09:22 AM

Just a quick update on Tiny Polka Dot's progress!

We've updated the rules for a total of 15 games (we may go to 16 before we go to press), rejiggered the logo, and are just beginning the process of getting the box design finalized and getting everything laid out in its finished state. The printers are a little backed up with the holiday season coming, so if we finish the design in the next week, we still won't get the game delivered until the beginning of November. That was our original timeline, so that's fine—hopefully we won't run into any unforeseen bumps in the road.

Meanwhile, 96% of you have filled out your BackerKit surveys, which is great. For those of you who ordered Prime Climb as well as Tiny Polka Dot, I'm going to ship the Prime Climb games out next week. If you moved, make sure you update your address on BackerKit (link here). Otherwise you should be set.

Tiny Polka Dot July Update
over 8 years ago – Sun, Jul 10, 2016 at 12:25:40 AM

Big thanks to the 94% of you who filled out the survey on BackerKit. Every completed survey hugely simplifies the fulfillment process for us. If you still need to fill our your survey, or lost the original email with the link to it, you can go here. If you move before Tiny Polka Dot ships to you, you should be able to go into BackerKit and update your address.

We don’t have much progress to report, though this was expected. We’re in the middle of an enormous project: writing and helping to implement the summer math curriculum for the Seattle Public School district. Our curriculum is being used in 19 locations, with over 2000 elementary school students this summer. Featured prominently: Tiny Polka Dot! We printed up an extra 160 prototypes to get them into the teachers and students’ hands before the start of the program. So far, the response to the game has been vibrantly positive. Teachers are asking us how they can get more decks for their classrooms, and kids have loved playing the different games. It’s been gratifying :-)

So what’s left before we get the game to you?

  • touch up the card images
  • design the box
  • finalize the instructions
  • (maybe) update the logo

None of this work will have much of an impact on the gameplay. It’s really about the beauty and clarity of the finished product. But that’s important! In our original schedule, we gave ourselves till the end of August to get it all done. That still feels reasonable. That puts us on track to get the game printed in September and shipped out in October. If something goes wrong, we should still be able to get it to you by November.

We’ll update you as any the project continues to develop!

Thanks again for your support!

And that's a wrap!
over 8 years ago – Thu, May 19, 2016 at 08:07:25 PM

The campaign is over, and thanks to our 893 backers, we funded at over 140% of our goal. Thanks to everyone who supported the campaign!

We also hit our first stretch goal, so we'll include 15 games in the final game instead of 12.

Here's what comes next:

  • We begin our final refinements on the game design in preparation for going to print. We've given ourselves the summer to do this, though we may finish early.
  • We collect all your information to get out the rewards in as organized and timely a manner possible. (We use a service called BackerKit to help us keep track of all your info. More on that later.)
  • Once everything is in order, we begin shipping your rewards!

If you backed this campaign, expect to get a survey from us via BackerKit in the next 2-4 weeks. This will allow you to specify exactly what reward you got (if there's any ambiguity), and even adjust what you're getting in some cases. It also allows you to update your address later in case you move, and generally keeps all the information well-organized.

More details to follow as necessary. To all our supporters, thanks again for helping us bring Tiny Polka Dot into the world!
